The Super Eagles have arrived in Russia ahead of their international friendly against the hosts on October 6. The delegation reached Russia on Friday, with players like Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Benjamin Fredrick, Akor Adams, Emmanuel Fernandez, and Popoola Abdulrasaq among the early arrivals. The match at Nizhny Novgorod Stadium will allow head coach Éric Chelle to assess players after Nigeria's opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Nigeria beat Madagascar 2-1 in Uyo but lost 3-0 to Guinea-Bissau in Bissau. Captain Wilfred Ndidi and defender Akpe Victory withdrew from the squad.
