Oyo Govt Condemns Abduction of NYSC Members

The Oyo State Government has condemned the abduction of some National Youth Service Corps members in Imo State and assured their families that efforts are underway to secure their safe release. The victims, of Oyo origin, were among 19 corps members travelling from Ibadan to orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom states when gunmen attacked two buses along the Owerri-Onitsha Road in Umunoha, Imo State, on Thursday. In a statement issued in Ibadan by Commissioner for Information and Orientation Dotun Oyelade, the government said Governor Seyi Makinde directed that all necessary resources be deployed towards securing the release of the abducted corps members. The government is in close communication with security agencies, the Imo State Government, and NYSC leadership for a coordinated response.
