Rotimi Amaechi, the vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alleged in a Channels Television interview that President Bola Tinubu's policies contributed to his mother's death. He stated that his mother was healthy before Tinubu took office but that the economic hardship made it difficult to afford her medications. Amaechi also criticized the removal of the fuel subsidy, saying it was intended to improve living conditions but instead worsened hardship for Nigerians. He maintained that the policies have led to loss of lives, including his mother's.
