Fidson Healthcare Plc, a Nigerian pharmaceutical manufacturer, has been selected by the Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) as one of 11 companies to receive a licence from Roche to produce a generic influenza drug. The licence will allow Fidson to manufacture and supply the drug to 129 countries. This development is expected to improve access to affordable influenza treatment in low- and middle-income countries.
