Guinean opposition politician Aliou Bah has been granted a presidential pardon after nearly two years in prison. Bah, head of the Liberal Democratic Movement (Model), was jailed for insulting junta leader General Mamadi Doumbouya. The pardon was among 217 granted by Doumbouya to mark Guinea's independence day, according to a presidential decree read on state television. Bah had been detained since December 2024 and was sentenced to two years in January last year, with an appeals court upholding the sentence in May 2025.
