The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has announced the death of Ismael Mulindwa, an ambulance driver with the Uganda Red Cross Society. Mulindwa was deployed to support the Ebola response in Aru, Ituri Province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, when he was seriously injured in an attack on 17 August 2026. He succumbed to his injuries on 1 October 2026 after initially making progress in his recovery. The IFRC extended condolences to his family and colleagues and reiterated that attacks against humanitarian workers are unacceptable.
