A wooden boat conveying more than 70 mourners and over 30 motorcycles capsized on the River Katsina-Ala at the Buruku Local Government Area crossing point in Benue State. The incident occurred at about 11am on Saturday as passengers were returning from a burial. Several passengers were rescued, while search and rescue operations continued for those still unaccounted for. An eyewitness said the boat was heavily overloaded when its engine developed a fault midway.
