President Isaias Afwerki of Eritrea travelled to Egypt on a working visit after receiving an invitation from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. While there, he is scheduled to take part in a Summit of Heads of State focused on collective security, stability and partnership. The summit continues a series of periodic forums that address issues affecting the wider neighbourhood, including the Red Sea region, the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Gulf and the Nile Basin. The two leaders will also hold discussions on ways to further strengthen bilateral ties between their countries.
