Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings, said he began his career in a job for which he was not qualified, noting that someone took a chance on him. In a post on his social media handle on Saturday, the billionaire businessman said everything he has built since has been an effort to repay that opportunity. He stated that while he was lucky, luck should not be the only way African talent gets a chance. Elumelu also noted that Africa accounts for less than one per cent of the world's AI computing capacity and about three per cent of its AI talent, adding that the constraint is not talent but electricity.
