Makinde is the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with Lawal Musa Daura as his running mate. The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation dismissed President Tinubu's Independence Day broadcast as a 'rhetorical exercise' that failed to provide concrete answers to Nigeria's economic hardship, poverty and insecurity. The campaign said Nigerians had expected specific, measurable and binding commitments on the economy and national security.
