Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has repeatedly promised to support President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027, despite being an opposition governor. In March 2026, Adeleke said political turbulence in Osun's local government structure would not change his decision. After winning re-election in August, he reaffirmed his support, describing Tinubu as a son of Osun. Adeleke has also told APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru in Osogbo that he does not make empty promises and urged Osun politicians to set differences aside for Tinubu's benefit, framing the alliance around South-west regional solidarity.
