Kidnappers of 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps members have given parents a 24-hour ultimatum to pay a N1 billion ransom, amounting to N50 million per victim. The victims were abducted in two buses along the Owerri-Onitsha Road in Imo State last Thursday. The Imo State Police Command has identified the location where the victims are being held, but security operatives delayed moving in due to fears that the camp was planted with improvised explosive devices. The Inspector-General of Police has deployed a Deputy Inspector General and Commissioners of Police to Imo State for a rescue operation.
