Parents of 20 abducted prospective National Youth Service Corps members have appealed to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, for assistance in rescuing their children. The parents, accompanied by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police and the Aseyin of Iseyinland, said the kidnappers demanded a N1 billion ransom and threatened to kill the victims within 24 hours. The Inspector-General of Police has deployed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations to Imo State to coordinate the rescue of the PCMs and other abducted passengers. The PCMs were attacked by gunmen last Thursday after traveling from Ibadan.
