Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya has stated that Boko Haram insurgents have been weakened but not defeated, emphasizing that insecurity remains a major challenge in Nigeria's North-East. Speaking at the Northern States Governors' Forum meeting in Maiduguri, he noted that attacks on communities persist, with banditry and communal clashes emerging as new threats. Many displaced residents are unable to return home. Yahaya also highlighted development gaps in the region, including unrealized infrastructure projects, inadequate healthcare, and poor educational outcomes.
