The Benue State Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy, Denis Iyaghigba, has suspended the activities of the Nigeria Union of Maritime Workers (NUMW) in River Buruku branch following a boat mishap involving mourners. The commissioner also ordered the suspension of the line operator and the arrest of the boat skipper. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, and an inter-ministerial committee has been set up to investigate the incident.
