Vice-President Kashim Shettima has called on Nigerians to be generous towards President Bola Tinubu, stating that the president took difficult decisions to prevent the economy from collapsing. Shettima made the remarks in Lagos on Saturday after meeting with Tinubu, who had returned to Nigeria a few days earlier from his annual vacation. He noted that he and the president remained in regular contact throughout Tinubu's time abroad. Shettima specifically cited the removal of petrol subsidy and the unification of multiple exchange rates as critical measures taken by Tinubu since assuming office.
