Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has condemned the abduction of about 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were traveling to their orientation camp. In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Obi described the incident as a troubling sign of worsening insecurity in Nigeria. He called for the rescue of the victims. The abduction has not been officially confirmed by authorities.
