Prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members abducted along the Owerri-Onitsha highway in Imo State on October 1, 2026, remain in captivity. The victims were traveling in two buses from Ibadan to Uyo and Bende when armed men attacked at Umunoha. Imo State Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso said security agencies have located the hideout but are exercising caution due to improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the area. A surveillance drone has been deployed as part of the rescue efforts.
