The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has urged Nigerian women to prioritize early detection of breast cancer while expanding financial protection for insured patients facing high oncology treatment costs. The call coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Latest estimates put annual new breast cancer cases in Nigeria at 32,278 and deaths at 16,332. The NHIA-Roche initiative has cut the cost of selected drugs by 80% and expanded support for radiotherapy and diagnostics.
