In an opinion piece, Dele Sobowale argues that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is right in calling for a revisit of the removal of fuel subsidy. Sobowale notes that many critics condemned the idea, with some accusing Atiku of lunacy, while others were more polite in their condemnation. He suggests that most of Atiku's critics were political opponents afraid the idea might be popular and tilt the 2027 presidential election in his favour, as well as traditional Atiku haters. Sobowale states that irrespective of how Atiku arrived at the decision, the idea deserves serious national discussion rather than emotional and abusive outbursts.
