The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has called for stronger coordination among government, the legislature, and the private sector to advance health-tax proposals. According to the NHIA, these proposals should serve as effective sources of healthcare financing and tools for reducing the rising burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The call was made by the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA, Dr Kelechi Ohiri. The agency emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to turn health-tax proposals into tangible improvements in healthcare funding and NCD reduction.
