Seven serving members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have resigned their membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing concerns over insecurity, alleged injustice, and other issues affecting the well-being of the people. The lawmakers, including an ally of former Governor Abdul'aziz Yari Abubakar, announced their withdrawal on Sunday. Their defection follows the public defection of scores of APC members led by Hajiya Hadiza Liman to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on Friday. The lawmakers were previously suspended for attempting to impeach the Speaker about a year ago, and sources say the issues that led to their suspension had not been resolved.
