Hundreds of French high schools were shut on Monday as student protests over learning conditions continued across the country. Students have been blocking school entrances since late September, citing issues such as teacher absences, overloaded timetables, and dilapidated buildings. Education Minister Edouard Geffray said up to 500 out of 3,700 high schools were expected to be partially or totally closed. Larger demonstrations are planned for Tuesday, and the government has accused hard-left activists of hijacking the movement.
