Several electric vehicle models have been discontinued or indefinitely delayed in 2026, extending a trend that began in September 2025. The expiration of the federal $7,500 tax credit for US-made EVs, along with sagging demand, tariffs, and the introduction of new EV generations, has led automakers to reorganize their lineups. EV deliveries fell 20.5% in the second quarter of 2026, following declines of 27% in the first quarter and 36% in the final quarter of 2025, according to Cox Automotive. By the end of 2025, Ford had ended production of the F-150 Lightning and Nissan had axed other models.
