Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops serving under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), in collaboration with the Jubaland Administration, have stepped up flood preparedness efforts around Dhobley town ahead of expected strong El Nino rains. Led by KDF Engineers, the exercise focused on clearing and improving drainage systems, restoring key access routes, and enhancing preparedness around Dhobley town. The efforts aim to mitigate the effects of heavy rainfall, improve access routes, and strengthen the resilience of critical infrastructure and surrounding communities. The initiative comes as forecasts point to heavy downpours that could transform roads into muddy channels and overwhelm drainage systems.
