The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned politicians that their ambitions are not worth the blood of Nigerians, vowing arrests, sanctions, and prosecution for violence, hate speech, and vote-buying ahead of the 2027 General Election. INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN, gave the warning in Abuja at a Strategic Workshop for Editors organized by the Nigerian Guild of Editors in collaboration with the Commission. The commission also announced measures to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections, including tracking illegal campaign spending. Additionally, the voter register has topped 103 million, 57,000 new BVAS have been acquired, PVC collection begins Friday, and a new form eEC8A has been introduced.
