Several early users of the personal AI agent Instinct reported receiving unsolicited shopping recommendations based on details from earlier conversations. Among them was Shruti Gandhi, a general partner and founding engineer at AI-focused venture firm Array Ventures, who said the agent sent her a shopping list even though she had not requested one. Instinct's CEO has stated that agents should not push purchases users do not want. Marketing and media analysts said the shopping suggestions may point to how the platform intends to monetize.
