More than 30 people are feared trapped underwater after a boat mishap at the Buruku crossing point of River Katsina-Ala in Benue State. The incident occurred three days ago when a wooden canoe carrying over 100 people capsized around midday last Saturday, leaving passengers and motorcycles trapped. The Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) said the operation can no longer be strictly described as a rescue mission due to the length of time victims have been underwater. SEMA's Head of Information Unit, Tema Ager, disclosed that two additional bodies were recovered on Sunday, and 38 motorcycles also went into the river, each reportedly carrying three people.
