The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, has announced that the National Register of Voters now exceeds 103 million ahead of the 2027 general election. He also revealed that a nationwide collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) will begin on Friday. Amupitan spoke at a strategic workshop for editors in Abuja, organized by the Nigerian Guild of Editors in collaboration with INEC. Additionally, INEC has acquired 57,000 new BVAS machines and will deploy joint financial monitoring teams with EFCC, ICPC, and NFIU, as well as undercover surveillance at polling units.
