Vice President Kashim Shettima travelled to Niger State following the deaths of 37 miners who died while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. During the visit, he announced a federal support package of N250 million for the families of the victims. The announcement was made as part of the government's response to the incident.
