Oprah-backed True Food Kitchen files for bankruptcy, blaming management turnover and strategy shifts

True Food Kitchen, a health-focused restaurant chain, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in a Texas court. The company cited $42 million in debt and closed 12 locations, leaving 34 restaurants open across 14 states. It is pursuing a court-supervised sale as part of its restructuring. Oprah Winfrey and former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz have been investors in the chain.
