Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, paid tribute to teachers across Nigeria in a statement issued on Monday by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, to mark the 2026 Teachers' Day. He condemned the rising cost of living, which he said is making it increasingly difficult for teachers to support their families and perform their duties. Atiku stated that he remembers and loves his teachers, both living and deceased, and recalled the names and faces of his early teachers in Jada who saw potential in him as a young orphan. He said those teachers taught him arithmetic and grammar and gave him a future.
