Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno announced a N50,000 wardrobe allowance for each of the 20,000 teachers employed by the state government. He also said the 1,776 registered private schools would receive N500,000 each for their teachers, and ordered the employment of 2,000 additional teachers. The governor declared a total state of emergency on the education sector and listed achievements including a N15 billion matching grant for SUBEB, intervention in over 100 schools, and payment of WASSCE and NECO fees for 172,000 students.
