The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Bauchi State Council, has called on Governor Bala Mohammed to clear the backlog of gratuity owed retired civil servants before his tenure ends. The state chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Alhassan Misau, made the appeal during the 2026 Pensioners' Day celebration in Bauchi. Misau also urged the governor to pay arrears owed to pensioners whose names were omitted from previous payments and those who were underpaid, with omissions affecting pensioners for periods ranging from two to 30 months. He commended Governor Mohammed for approving N10 billion to settle outstanding gratuities, noting that N3 billion had already been released for pensioners who retired between certain periods.
