Abubakar Kyari: Nigeria Can’t Afford Fragmented Agriculture Policies

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, has stated that Nigeria cannot afford fragmented agriculture policies and is adopting a state-specialisation model to align public spending, private investment, and infrastructure with each region's comparative advantages. He spoke at a Community of Practice meeting on the implementation of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Kampala Declaration in Maiduguri. Kyari emphasized that states should not attempt to produce everything regardless of their natural endowments. He also announced that early procurement of fertiliser yielded N61.58 billion in savings.
