The International Criminal Court (ICC) is pursuing four Taliban leaders over the alleged persecution of women and girls. The ICC said there are reasonable grounds to believe that the four suspects ordered, induced or solicited the crime against humanity of persecution on gender grounds. The persecution targeted women, girls and people whose gender identity or expression was considered inconsistent with Taliban policies.
