Two years after the Namne bridge collapsed along the Jalingo-Wukari highway in Taraba State, the federal government has not reconstructed it, causing hardship for travellers. Trailers and luxury buses are forced to divert to an alternate route, while other vehicles are ferried across the River Namne at a cost of between N5,000 and N10,000 per crossing. A commercial driver, Lawal Wukari, told Daily Trust that travellers face serious difficulty, including high risks of vehicles falling into the river and delays. Many travellers have reportedly lost their lives while using the ferry.
