Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has appointed Professor Philip Afaha as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the newly established Akwa Ibom State University of Education. The appointment marks the take-off of the new institution. Professor Afaha becomes the first person to head the university.
