Carlos Alcaraz has won the Japan Open for the second consecutive year, defeating Czech Republic's Jiri Lehecka 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 in the final in Tokyo. This marks Alcaraz's first title since returning from a right wrist injury and his first tour-level trophy since winning in Doha in February. The 23-year-old Spaniard had returned to competitive action in late August and reached the US Open quarter-finals, where he lost to Ben Shelton. Lehecka, ranked 19th in the world, initially led 3-1 in the first set, but Alcaraz recovered to win the tie-break and then secured the decisive break in the second set.
