The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed a further counter-affidavit opposing an application by former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to present evidence of her acquittal by the Southwark Crown Court in London. The EFCC argued that the foreign court's acquittal is not material or relevant to the issues before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court. The commission urged the judge to dismiss the application. The News Agency of Nigeria reported that Justice Ekwo had previously granted Diezani's application to present the evidence after the EFCC's counsel did not oppose it.
