Residents of Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State have recounted how a Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft crashed in their community, killing all 32 persons on board. The aircraft, with tail number NGR 931, carried 25 passengers and 7 crew members and was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when it lost contact with Air Traffic Controllers at about 9:13 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026, before crashing in a swampy area near the Naval Base. Search and rescue operations were activated by the Nigerian Air Force, and security operatives cordoned off the site. President Bola Tinubu ordered a probe, naval authorities disclosed the identities of the casualties, and Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa directed the State Emergency Management Agency to respond.
