PDP Kicks As Sokoto North Senatorial Candidate Maccido Dumps Party Ticket

Senator Ahmed Muhammad Maccido, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Sokoto North Senatorial District bye-election, has withdrawn from the race. In a letter dated Monday, 5th October 2026, he announced his decision to pull out. The state PDP Chairman, Hon. Hayatu Tafida Aminu, described the withdrawal as a betrayal of the party and its supporters, noting that it came when victory was in sight. Tafida added that the timing was suspicious and damaging to the party's preparations, as Maccido was seen as the party's best chance to reclaim the seat.
