The Federal Government has directed the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) to resume work on the second runway at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo, disclosed this, noting that the project, delayed for nearly 20 years, will now cost about N400 billion. Speaking in Lagos at the 67th anniversary of Aero Contractors, Keyamo recalled that the project was initially stalled during President Obasanjo's tenure when the National Assembly deemed N45 billion too expensive.
