The White House on Tuesday rejected claims by Democrats that President Donald Trump suggested Iran should "take out" Los Angeles and San Diego. The controversy arose from viral footage of Trump's remarks at a midterm elections rally in Nebraska on Monday, where he said high oil prices from the Iran war were justified by the need to prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons. Trump stated, "They can take out a city. Let them take, let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay, and it's going to be over with very soon." Democrats, who control California where both cities are located, accused the 80-year-old Republican president of encouraging Iran to attack the two urban centers.
