Ambassador Amadou Diongue, Resident Representative of ECOWAS in Benin, inaugurated two meeting rooms at the Representation on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, dedicated to the memory of Marcel de Souza, former Chair of the ECOWAS Commission (2016-2018), and Lamine Cisse, founding President of the Union of ECOWAS Nationals. The ceremony was attended by representatives from Benin's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National ECOWAS Office, the de Souza and Cisse families, and UR-ECOWAS and ECOWOMAN. Ambassador Diongue recalled the context and motivations behind the symbolic act, which aimed to immortalize the memory of these figures.
