Christa Pike is awake and communicating after surviving a botched execution attempt in Tennessee last week, according to her attorneys. She remains hospitalised in Nashville, receiving critical care for severe injuries to her arms sustained during the failed execution. Her legal team said her condition has shown some improvement, but her prognosis remains uncertain and a lengthy recovery is expected. Pike survived two doses of pentobarbital before the procedure was halted and was taken from the prison by ambulance for medical treatment. Her attorneys also noted that she remains restrained to her hospital bed with handcuffs and shackles while receiving treatment.
