The Financial Markets Dealers Association (FMDA) has projected that Nigeria's current account surplus will widen to $8.69 billion in the third quarter of 2026. This follows a surplus of $7.54 billion in the second quarter, which surpassed the earlier projection of $6.12 billion. The association attributed the expected increase to lower import demand and persistently elevated crude oil prices. The projection was contained in the FMDA's September 2026 Monthly Market Report.
