The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has raised concerns over the reported restriction of hijab-wearing female students at the International School, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. According to a statement by its Executive Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, some Muslim students were allegedly prevented from entering the school premises for several days due to their hijabs. The students were reportedly told to wait until December 2026 for the university council to deliberate on the matter, and they eventually removed their hijabs to return to school. MURIC described the development as discriminatory and called on the university and school authorities to respect students' religious rights.
