Man in court over alleged N50m, 110 tyres theft

A 47-year-old man, Shehu Shittu, on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates' Court in Lagos over alleged conspiracy and stealing of 110 motor tyres and N50 million. Shehu was arraigned before Magistrate Lateef A. Owolabi on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing. The prosecutor, Mrs Josephine Ikhayere, alleged that the defendant and others still at large committed the offences between September 2025 and September 2026 at Adofa Filling Station, Mushin, Lagos, within the Lagos Magisterial District. The prosecutor alleged that Shehu conspired with others to commit felony, to wit, stealing, contrary to Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. He also alleged that the defendant stole 110 pieces of assorted motor tyres and N50 million in cash belonging to one Alhaji Rasheed Solola. The alleged offence contravened Section 296 and is punishable under Section 297(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
