The Nigerian naira weakened against the US dollar in the parallel market on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, trading at about ₦1,362 per dollar, up from ₦1,357 the previous day. At the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), the naira appreciated to ₦1,331.50 per dollar from ₦1,332.90, representing a ₦1.40 gain according to Central Bank of Nigeria data. The gap between the parallel and official rates widened to ₦30.50 per dollar from ₦24.10 on Tuesday. Meanwhile, NFEM interbank turnover surged by 334.8 percent to $313.6 million from $72.12 million in the prior session.
